Though our race schedule is a little on the "light" side, compared to years past, we've still got
quite a few goals set for the 2010 season.
Even though the schedule is a bit more tame, the training for the events won't be. As a matter
of fact, with less races in between, we're hoping for even better results with fresh bodies
during our season in '10. Having been diagnosed with Cardiomyopothy in the early spring of
'09, I'm more ready than ever to get things rolling again. Though that diagnosis took me out of
the game (and ended my boxing career) for a little while, I can see now where I can use it as a
tool for some really positive things. I'm excited to have family be a large part of the 2010 race
season for me, you never know how much time you have left with them. My races will be
limited but with training time and race days spent with the "Watters Gang" in tow, family time
will not. I think the best thing you can do for your young ones is to set a positive example of a
healthy lifestyle. And even though the Cardiologist may not agree completely (or at all) with
some of my event choices, it's important for me to be out there and to show everyone, no
matter what your limitations are, the benefit of a strong body and mind. I'll be blogging my
training, ideas, treatment and overall athletic life over the course of the 2010 season. Not
because I think I'm that interesting BUT because YOU have no excuse to not be running, head
over heels, towards what you want to be doing with your life. Whether in athletics or some
other domain in your life, get off your ass and get after it!
